Food as Medicine

The Palette Fund’s philosophy is simple: We aim to educate patients, their caregivers and the health care professionals that support them about the role of nutrition in healing. Our goal is to provide practical information about food and health, and to encourage patients and their caregivers to incorporate health-supportive food as one of their choices in healing.

It is our hope that this website will be a useful wellness resource for you. To this end, we have tried to keep the information simple by providing practical suggestions regarding food selection and the preparation of health-supportive recipes that are easy to try at home.

Rand Skolnick spent most of his professional life working in the field of nutrition. Thus, it was no surprise that when Rand was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he made the decision to incorporate health-supportive food as part of his cancer treatment. This complementary therapy helped Rand stay nourished, alleviated the side effects of his treatment, and helped him to develop healthy eating habits. Rand very much enjoyed the food, and often commented how he felt the food was cleansing and nourishing his body.

The information and suggestions presented are intended to be used as a reference and not as a replacement of any treatment prescribed by your physician. The Palette Fund recommends a whole food approach, rather than a specific diet. Please click below or on the links to the right to navigate through our Food as Medicine educational tools.
